Steel construction for mixer containers
The engineering firm VSI undertook the structural engineering for a steel platform designed to support six liquid mixing tanks with a total operational weight of approximately 280 tons. Due to the integration into an existing building and the simultaneous installation of the large liquid tanks, it was necessary to incorporate the node statics into the planning from the very beginning. These complex conditions presented significant challenges that required careful and detailed planning. A total of approximately 51 tons of steel was used.
Steel beams were arranged above the mixing tanks so that the heavy agitators of the tanks can be lifted out and moved sideways using movable chain hoists for maintenance and repair purposes. An extra high live load of 10 kN/m² was taken into account in the design of the platform.
