65-meter high emergency staircase
During the decommissioning of a mine, a large drainage shaft is being constructed. This shaft is a total of 7.4 km long and is intended to transport the resulting mine water to a treatment plant. The channel will be equipped with several large access shafts. In the 65 m deep central shaft, which has a diameter of approximately 33.0 m, access via an elevator shaft is planned. The elevator shaft will have an emergency and escape route through a steel staircase. The escape staircase essentially consists of two main supports in the stairwell and a total of 27 flights of stairs. The stair landings are cantilevered. The staircase connects several emergency exit landings of the elevator shaft. The staircase construction and the design of the elevator shaft were planned by VSI. Approximately 44 tons of steel were used in total.
